developments in CAR T-cell Therapy
for Blood Cancer patients.
Dr. Nishimura is Professor of Surgical Oncology in the Department of Surgery at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine.
Dr. Nishimura is an internationally recognized leader with more than 20 years of research in TCR-based cancer immunotherapy.
He was the chief scientist behind the first clinical trial of TCR-based cancer immunotherapy in 2006 and has been the principal investigator on a number of TCR-based clinical trials sponsored by NCI and the private sector.
Dr. Nishimura received his Ph.D. from the University of Maryland Baltimore County and completed his postdoctoral fellowship at the California Institute of Technology. He was senior staff scientist at the NCI’s Surgery Branch.
Additionally, Assistant and then Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Chicago. Furthermore, he was Professor of Surgical Oncology and Scientific Director of the Center for Cellular Therapy at the Medical University of South Carolina.
